Thirst for Power

"It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences" - Audre Lorde

I cannot explain how much I agree with this wonderful quote by writer, feminist and civil rights activist, Audre Lorde. Others may think that it is because of our differences that divide people. The different races, ethnicity, cultures, gender, sexual orientation, class, ability and much more. However that is not the case. Yes, no one is the same and everyone is different from one another but that is because we are human. Just like how there is no 100% perfect in this world, it is the same with humans, we are all different. The fact that we are unable to recognize, accept and celebrate these differences are what divides us. But why? Because by not recognizing, accepting and celebrating these differences, we are creating categories for people which then creates status, levels of class which then creates power. Thus this thirst for "Power" is what divides us, against our own kind, human kind.
